Some Retail Analysis Sample visuals are not even supported in the new Canvas.

From time to time, I like to leverage ideas from the samples provided in PBI and on the web.  However, we're having a difficult time understanding which visuals are no longer supported in the new Canvas.  Please advise on how we can gain a better understanding of this.  Thanks.

Some of the older Retail Analysis sample visuals were built with features from the old Power View canvas. After the 2015 updates, Power BI moved to the new report canvas, and a few visuals (like certain custom charts, KPI tiles, or play axis charts) didn’t carry over.

How to handle this:

Stick to visuals available in the Visualizations pane of the current Power BI Desktop.

If a sample shows an unsupported visual, check AppSource → Custom Visuals for an equivalent.

Microsoft’s official Retail Analysis Sample
has been updated to only use supported visuals.

👉 In short: Some older visuals won’t work anymore; use the new visual gallery or AppSource for replacements.
