Smooth run of data points

Hi everyone,    I’m trying to create smooth animated visualizations in Power BI for a presentation. The issue I’m running into is that my visuals “jump” from one data point to the next instead of ...

Power BI does not tween between values like that. Native visuals only animate when the input changes due to a filter or slicer interaction; they will not draw frames between 1 and 5 on their own. The data points need to actually be there for the visual to render them.

Two practical paths I would consider:

    1. Densify the data. Generate the in-between values (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ...) in Power Query or with a calculated table, then use the Play Axis custom visual to step through them quickly. With a small step interval it looks like a smooth count-up. This is the easiest option if you only need bar growth or KPI counters.

    2. Deneb. This is the right tool when you want real transitions and tweening between states. Vega's animation specs let you interpolate between data values over time and that is exactly the case you are describing. Charticulator's animation is too limited for this and will not get you there.

If you wanted a bar-chart-race look specifically, there are dedicated custom visuals for that, but Deneb is more flexible.

If this helped, a thumbs up and accepting the solution would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
