According to your description,I think you can try ’allselected’ in your formula when you use a slicer.
Like this:
Calculate( Amount ,
Treatas( Summarize ( Allselected(Orders), Orders[PO #] ) , AP[PO #] ))

Can you share a sample pbix after removing sensitive data.
