Slicer sync issue

Hello,

I'm quite new to PBI so maybe what I want to do is simply impossible.

I have a report with several pages which visualizations must be linked to the selection on the first page's visualizations.

I know visualizations can't be linked from a page to another, and it seems Slicers could be a way to work it around.

My table contains an ID colum (like in a SP list), with a single ID for each row.

Then I created an "ID" slicer

I manage to filter my slicer when selecting some datas in my 1st page visualization. The slicer then only shows the related IDs, but it will not sync on my other pages.

Whereas when I select one specific ID in my slicer it syncs correctly (but it's absolutely useless in my case).

Am I doing something wrong ?

Is what I want to do just possible ?

Best regards

R.

@Syk Thanks for the quick reply, I'll add some questions that come to mind.

Hi @Romain_S ,

If you have created multiple slicers, and both want to synchronize the slicer, you need to set the synchronization policy for each of them separately. They are independent of each other. As shown below I have created slicers using 'ID' and 'Date' fields respectively and I need set the synchronization policy for them respectively.

If your slicer cannot be filtered by other slicers, choose your slicer, see if relevant changes have been made.

The 'ID' slicer will not filter the 'Date' slicer as shown below:

Hello, it seems to me I was going the wrong way, as the Drillthrough mays better fit my need.

Anyway, if there's something possible with the Slicer sync method, please tell me.

Best,

R.

Thanks @Syk

Actually, this aspect is already OK in my report.

What's also strange is that if I use the basic Slicer visualization, I can't have it filtered by my other selections on the page, whereas with the New one, it works. But still only on the first page, with no sync despite the proper boxes being ticked in the pane. 🤔

In your ribbon hit View > Sync Slicers

This will give you a new pane where you can select your slicer then decide if it syncs with each page of your report. You can also decide if it's visible on that page or not. In this screenshot, I have a slicer on page 3 that will sync to page 1. However, it is not shown on page 1 and a user will need to go back to page 3 to change the slicer. Page 2 is unaffected by the slicer.
