Slicer Panel Scroll Behavior Causing Overlay Issues in Power BI Dashboard

I have observed an unexpected behavior in our Power BI dashboard related to slicer interactions and scrolling. When a user opens any slicer (filter dropdown) and then scrolls the dashboard, the slicer panel does not close or remain fixed—it instead continues to float and overlaps with visual headers or other content on the report page. This leads to a poor user experience and confusion in interaction.

Impact:

  • Degrades user experience.

  • Causes confusion due to the overlay on important visuals or headers.

I would like to know if there is any existing configuration, workaround, or planned enhancement in Power BI that can address this issue. If not, I would like to submit this as feedback for improvement in future releases.

Looking forward to your support and suggestions.

Thanks!!

Hi @Nishanth52 ,

When a user click on a slicer it will open it and  it will only close when you select one of the options or click outside the specific slicer.

To what I can understand you are doing the following steps:

  • Opening a slicer
  • Using the Scroll Wheel on the mouse to move the dashboard
  • Slicer keeps opens

Are this steps correct?

If you are using the scrool wheel I can confirm the behaviour, if you are using the scroll bar on the page report then it will close the slicer because you will click on the bar closing the slicer.

Not sure if they are able to control the slicer to be closed based on the scrool wheel since you can also use the scroll weel to move inside the slicer if you have a list of several values, this would mean to understand where the mouse is and if it's inside the slicer.

You can always place this feedback on the issues part of the forum and see what MSFT answers back.

Regards

Miguel Félix
