Simple: Well it was, but no longer with Feb 2024 Version. Transparent Tables and Matrix

Really simple, i want a fully transpartent table and matrix visual in Power BI Desktop Feb 2024.  Loads of videos and links to help with this, from old versions, where it is really simple. Now... well no change, we have controls for Values and no feature to make that control in the UI for transparent.

Just for clarity, i want the whole table visual to be fully transparent. Setting Styles to None but the next step of clearing the background is not in Feb 2024 version in Desktop.

Any ideas?

This is a theme issue. backColorSecondary & backColorPrimary are causing the issue.

I have nearly solved it... by editing the json and removing those lines of

"backColorPrimary":{"solid":{"color":"#ffffff"}},

I am currently attempting to edit the theme file, and add the #00FFFFFF hex transparancy to the fields in the json. So far no luck.

Hi @Banthos,

I tried replicating a fully transparent table as you mentioned -

  • Select the visual
  • In formatting pane -> General -> Effects -> Background -> Turn it off
  • In formatting pane -> Visual -> Style Preset -> Select None
  • The moment I select None, the background color fields in Value automatically get erased, and the table becomes transparent.

  • Yes, if you change the background color, there is no option to erase it back. But you can use reset to default and it will erase the background color again.
  • The same goes for the background color in column headers as well.

Is the transparent table shown in my screenshot what you are trying to achieve?

PS: I have Power BI Feb 2024 installed.
