Hi @rajkumar711 ,

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum. Also thank you @pbiuseruk for the guidance. You do need to sign in with a work or school account, and ensuring that you’re on the latest version of Power BI Desktop is important.

In addition to that, please also verify the following:

  • Delete the User.zip and Cache folders located at: C:\Users\<YourUser>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop.
  • Check your firewall or proxy allows access to login.microsoftonline.com and app.powerbi.com. Temporarily disable VPN if active.
  • Confirm that Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is installed, as Power BI Desktop uses it for authentication.

  • Log in at https://app.powerbi.com to verify your account works, then retry in Power BI Desktop.

These additional checks usually resolve blank sign-in screen behavior. Please feel free to reach out for any further questions.

Thank you .

Hi @rajkumar711

The blank white sign-in screen you’re encountering in Power BI Desktop usually occurs because of authentication or embedded browser compatibility issues. Power BI Desktop uses an embedded browser (based on Microsoft Edge WebView2 or Internet Explorer, depending on your version), and when that component fails to load correctly, the sign-in window appears blank after you click Sign In. To resolve this, first ensure that WebView2 Runtime is installed on your system — you can download it from Microsoft’s official site and install it manually if it’s missing. Next, try clearing your Power BI cache and credentials by navigating to File → Options and settings → Data source settings → Clear permissions, and then restart Power BI Desktop. Also, open Internet Options → Advanced → Security and make sure “Use TLS 1.2” is checked. If you’re behind a corporate network or proxy, ensure Power BI can access login.microsoftonline.com and related authentication endpoints (some firewalls block these). Finally, updating Power BI Desktop to the latest version often fixes this issue since newer builds rely fully on WebView2. Once all these steps are complete, restart Power BI Desktop and attempt to sign in again — the blank window should be replaced with the standard Microsoft sign-in prompt.

You don't actually need to sign in if you don't want to. You only need to sign in when you want to publish a report to the service.

Also, you have to use a work or student account when signing in here. Personal accounts don't work. If you're using an organisational account and it's still not working for you - it might be worth checking if your PowerBI version is the latest (update if not). Otherwise you can try to reinstall Power BI Desktop.

Hope this helps.
