Showing data from excel as typed in table function

Hi all,

I can't seem to make the table in Power BI display in the way it is typed in my excel, instead, it will end up being jumbled up.

For example Process Cooling Water Pumps- Plant 1 consists of 5 cables as listed below and so on. I want them to be represented as typed in the excel file in its own "groups". (with the headings if possible)

Is there any way I can "lock" the first column? Or how should I approach this?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Hi all,

Thanks all you for your help.

I managed to solve the issue by adding another column with a serial number and sorting the data based on that.

Wish I thought of that earlier! 😅

Hi @amyamelyn ,

I'm afraid not. Currently table visual does not support hierarchical level in power bi. Although matrix visual can use hierarchical level, it will show the aggregated value of each field instead of single value, duplicate value in one field will only show once.

Perhaps you can submit the requirement to ideas and add your comments there to make this feature coming sooner: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas
It is a place for customers provide feedback about Microsoft Office products . What’s more, if a feedback is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future.

@amyamelyn , matrix with the stepped layout is most nearest.

Hi @amyamelyn ,

Rather than creating a table visual, try creating a matrix visual in Power BI.

Thanks,

Pragati
