First post so please forgive me any nuances.
I am new to Power BI - got a new job and they asked me to learn. Been watching YouTube tutorials for 2 weeks solid now. I am starting to build a weekly report, currently done manually from several excel docs which is then putting it into a PowerPoint, it's labour intensive. Since the data layout never changes, just the numbers, I think a dashboard is the way forward.
I am struggling with displaying ratios. I have made a table (visualisations) and have a ratio calculation column in this, I was quite proud of myself for working that dax out. But I want to make this more visual. I want it to be in a graph or pie chart. But I can only ever get it to display in percentage terms. I want it to show 1:11 or 1:5 or 1:8. This is what my table looks like
Filter on: by manager pay grade
Area | Managers | Staff | Ratio |
North | 30.86 | 329.10 | 1:11 |
East | 31.59 | 213.18 | 1:7 |
South | 14.92 | 117.95 | 1:8 |
Is there a way to display the above in a pie or graph?
What's your business statement? 11 staff per manager in the North, and 7 staff per manager in the East? For that a column chart would be more appropriate.
You can add your ratio column as a tooltip but it doesn't really add value.
It's a request to show the ratio of staff to managers in the regions. They wanted it in a graphical form rather than just a table, but to show the ratios also.
I just couldn't think of how to display it but I think the bar charts will work. Thank you.
