I have added a "descripton" to an an attribute in the modelling tab. I would like this to be surfaced in my matrix when I hover over the "item ID" column.
But it only appears when I hover over the item in the "data" tab, here:
Is there a way that I can surface this description under the tooltip that displays when I hover over the column?
This seems like quite basic functionality, but I cannot find a way. Other than putting all column definitions on the report level tooltip.
Thanks

Thank you. That does solve the immediate problem, but would mean I need to create the same button with the same text for every report that uses that attribute or calculation. I'm really surprised that Microsoft haven't surfaced the attribute description in the same way that they' ve done in the data or model view. It seems like this would be new functionality, so I have submitted an idea here if anyone would like to upvote.
I really think this would help with communcating a "data dictionary" to the users.

There is no generic solution to what you asked for, only ways similar to my proposal.
It is also possible to create a centralized explanation page for visualizations.
Voted for your idea, it would be nice to have this option.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I've suggested my idea here - if anyone reading this would like model descriptions surfaced in the reports then please consider voting!
