Hi All,
I am creating a dashboard for a retail business that has multiple outlets. Each outlet has a set of KPI's that are slightly different. Is there a way I can show different sub-headings under each heading on a matrix.
By way of example, our existing report (in excel) is set up with headers like this (with all headers merged) :
Heading: | Visitors | Outlet 1 | Outlet 2 | ||||||
Sub-Heading: | Site 1 | Site 2 | Transactions | Sales | COGS | Average Transaction Value | Transactions | Sales | COGS |
I could easily do this by creating a different measure for each column, but given the number of outlets is likely to grow I'm reluctant to do this as it creates a lot of work to update the reports every time the structure of the business changes.
I've already got a data source with the planned structure outlined, but it's displaying the correct values where I come unstuck. Is there a way I could set this up to dynamically change the measure shown according to the column headings?
Thanks!
Hi @amyvgordon ,
Isn't your data structure like this:
If it is, simply put the Heading and Sub-Heading columns in a matrix Columns, Value in matrix Values. In this way, although you add rows in the data source, the visual can still get correct result.

Hi @v-yanjiang-msft ,
My data is much more complicated than that unfortunately. There are four tables that drive the values I want to show in my matrix, and some of the matrix columns use data from more than one of the tables.
I could group the data in to a table in a query or a dax table I suppose, but that's going to increase processing time significantly because of how much data I'm working with.
Thanks,
A
