Should I use the Odata feed?

Hello,   Could you do me a favor?   When I use SharePoint Online as a connector, only the data from two lists is fully loaded, while data from the other lists isn't loading completely—many column...

    Hi Happytravel2025 ,

    Each has its advantages.

If you're using SharePoint connector 2.0 you'll only get columns based on your "view" whereas if you use SharePoint 1.0 you should be able to get all your columns required.

Empty columns could possibly because your lists do not have the same column headers as each other where data is appearing "blank".

If the data is similar or the same between your lists, I would use the standard SharePoint connector, however, using OData is more performant as you can pull in the required columns or pre-filter data that you only require. On the flip side, using OData, you can only connect to one list at a time so you'd have to repeat the process for each list you may have.

And lastly, using OData connector to SharePoint doesn't require a gateway. Connect via Web and use oAuth to connect and you should be good to go.

    Hi Happytravel2025 ,
Thank you for sharing helpful information hnguy71  !

As hnguy71  suggested, with the SharePoint Online List connector v2.0, Power BI only pulls in columns from the list’s default view, which is why you might see blanks if certain columns aren’t included there.

If you need all columns, try using the v1.0 connector instead—it brings in everything, no matter the view.

Another option is using the OData feed, which lets you filter and shape data at the source. It’s especially helpful for larger lists and better performance.
