Sharing a date table across different projects

Good morning,

I was wondering if it is possible to share a date table I created in a Power BI project with another project I have started.  I am new to Power BI so apologies if this is a very obvious question, I just can't imagine that I have to create a new date table every time I start a new project.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Martin

Hi @Anonymous ,

What I mean is, if your source is a database like SQL, MYSQL, ORACLE you can ask team to create a date dimension (confirmed dimension) table, which you can use it accross in all power bi applications. Else you need to create a date table every time you create new app.

Hope this helps you.

Pavan Vanguri.

Hi @Anonymous ,

I think it is possible. Just copy the M code of your Date Table and on your new project, paste it on a blank query using advance editor

Hi @Anonymous ,

If you create a date table in the power bi data model, its individual to the particular app.

You cannot share the same with the another app, alternatively you can create a dimension table in the data source like sql, and the same can be used to all others applications.

Please let me know if you still have any questions, happy to help to you.

Pavan Vanguri.

Hi Pavan @Anonymous, many thanks for taking the time to get back to me.

What do you mean when you say "...you can create a dimension table in the data source like sql".   Please forgive my ignorance, I am very new to Power BI and I am not sure what a dimesion table is.

Kind regards,

Martin
