Sharing PowerBi Desktop file
I want to share a file to someone and we both do not have the pro version. We've tried sharing the file multiple ways (download from OneDrive, sharing file via Teams) but the other user keeps getting an error message saying the file is corrupt. We both have Version: 2.116.966.0 64-bit (April 2023). Anyone know what the potential issue might be?
Hello Anonymous.
- It seems that one possible issue is that the version of Power BI Desktop installed may be quite old.
- Each person who uses a Power BI Desktop file will need to have the same version of Power BI Desktop, particularly a much newer version than the one you have.
- When it comes to sharing a file, using a cloud storage service like OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, or a Github repository typically will not cause any corruption to the file.
Please share if there are any obstacles to upgrading Power BI Desktop to see if this resolves the issue.

Hi Anonymous ,
Based on the description, try to check that share to OneDrive is enabled.
Then, verify the prerequisites to sharing a report.
Besides, try to update the latest desktop version.
