Sharing PowerBI report or workspace with external user: How to do?

Hello everyone,

How can we share individual reports or an entire workspace from PowerBI service to an external user (client). When I tried sharing one of the report, client couldn't access it. Is this because from client end they don't have PowerBI premium capacity or anything with Azure AD?

Kindly share your thoughts and ideas if anyone came across same issue.

Thanks,
Karthik

Hi @Anonymous ,

When you share the content inside or outside your organization, you need a Power BI Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) license. Your recipients also need Power BI Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) licenses, unless the content is in a Premium capacity. How did you share the report with these users? Did they get error message when they tried to access the shared report? You can refer the content in the following official documentation to share the report with them.

With Webdashboard you can easily share your Power BI reports and dashboards, with an intern and external users. All you need is an e-mail address.

You can try Webdashboard for 30 days and if you need any help, they will quickly react. It's available at the Microsoft App Source and for more information, you can visit the website: www.webdashboard.com

@Anonymous They will need an Azure AD login (Office 365 login) and generally a Power BI Pro license. Do you have a Premium workspace?

My client also has office 365 subscription and they are different organization. I am not sure why they cannot access the workspace or report, do they need anything else @Greg_Deckler .

Thanks,

Karthik
