Sharepoint - Unable to connect error

Hi everyone

I am trying to connect from Desktop to an Excel file in Sharepoint for the 1st time, so I entered the url including the site name but I get this error:

"Unable to connect

We encountered an error while trying to connect.

Detals: "Web.Contents failed to get contents from 'https://abc.sharepoint.com/sites/105066/_api/web/lists/getbyid ('fba6e538/22b7'-etc)/RenderListDataAsStream?CID=41a779e9-etc' (405) Method Not Allowed"

Can anyone help please ? thanks

If you are connecting to a single file, the easiest way to swap from desktop to SP is to copy the path for the file, not using the root site/folder connector. There's like 9 ways to get a link to a SP file, and only one of them will be the correct path - you want the one in the "more details" of the file properties. I have a how-to on this here if it helps: https://youtu.be/2HZ8l23RXnc

Hi, @Anonymous

It seems you didn't use the correct connector or enter a valid URL with the correct format.

If you want to connect to a single Excel file stored in Sharepoint online, copy its link from Sharepoint online and use Get data > Web in Power BI Desktop. It's similar to connect to an Excel file stored in OneDrive for Business.

Use OneDrive for work or school links in Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Thanks but I tried that but it did not work.

When I use the base url abc.sharepoint.com it connects but I just see this
