I just had this issue today in a table visual, and found out that "Show items with no data" makes the VC button grey out. I see now, that it mentioned as a limitation in the documentation. Maybe you could add a popup on the VC button explaining why its greyed out, because it was really frustrating to figure out the reason?

    I am glad you found our rather long list of limitations. It's the source to go to to learn about them. We considered adding something for these limitations, but since they should be resolved eventually we didn't think it was worth the effort.
