Thanks and we look forward to hearing your feedback!
Hi! Sorry, me again..
Is it possible to use a VC in a Card (new) visual, as a reference label?
It allows me to drop it in the reference label "Add label" section, but it doesn´t render into the visual..
Is this a limitation or I am doing something wrong?
Thanks!
Visual Calculations assume that you have tabular data. They don't make much sense for scalar data.
I don´t agree.. They are very helpful for dynamic titles, subtitles, y axis max, all scalar values.
So, why not reference labels..?
this is likely just a temporary situation as we are planning to eventually have all kinds of places have the ability to use visual calcs. I am interested in your visual calc though, can you share it?
Thanks for your feedback!
Sure, this is the card and DAX expression I am using:
thanks for sharing, it is great to see your usage of visual calcs.
Hi!
I wanted to use Visual Calculations with Field Parameters as measures, not dimensions.
So, I have a measure slicer where I can pick the measure I want to display, and wanted to create a Y axis Max visual calculation. It seems to grab only the measure selected, and not the Selectedvalue of the field parameter. So when I switch the measure, it gives an error, as the VC is not able to change dinamically along with the FP.
Is there a solution for this?
Thanks a lot!!
Hi, thanks for chiming in! This is expected behavior at the moment since when you switch out the field parameter value the selected measure actually disappears from the visual. There is no way to get the selected value of the field parameter unfortunately.
Thanks for the speedy response!
When you say "at the moment", this means it would eventually get solved? Is it on the roadmap?
what I meant is that we are aware but haven't found a solution we like yet. It's on the roadmap, but I don't have a date to share.
Hello,
For me, on Power BI desktop, it's working for most of my Table Visualisations on my report, but for one of the tables in its own page the "New visual calculation" button is greyed out and I'm not sure why.
Any suggestions?
Yours sincerely,
Jesse Cooper
hi, that is a bit weird. Is there any chance you can send me the pbix?
Hello, unfortunately not, as it contains sensitive commercial data.
I rebuilt the table visual on a new page to match the previous table, and the new table has the button available. Strange, but it fixed my problem.
that is strange, but glad you were able to get it resolved.
Great feature, but only works in Power BI Desktop for me((
Power BI Service shows "inf" instead of numbers in all cells.
Matrix, visual is
the feature works in both Desktop and the Service and this function call should return the same in both environments.
use DIVIDE to handle cases where you divide by zero or blank
Hey Jay - as an ardent follower of yours; here is what I'd like to share.
In embedded power bi reports A SKUs (embedded in the web portal)
in the edit mode, when I select visual calculations, the Calculations bar does not show and it just hangs. In the field section it is added as hidden but I can't do much with it.
Visual calculations offer an incredible opportunity in our use case because it used to be that if any of the customers wants to a custom calculation it would always have to be that they would submit a request and then that measure would have to be added and they'd have to wait until the next deployment typically weeks away. So we are genuinely excited about Visual Calcs but only if they work in web-portal (A SKU) embedded dashboards 🙂
Thanks in advance.
Hi @muturuf thanks for checking in and asking this question. Visual calculations do not support embedded today unfortunately so this behavior is as expected at the moment. I would love to learn more about what you're trying to do though to help prioritize this. Can you send me a DM?
Hi Jay
I saw your Visual Cals presentation during the 'Power BI and Fabric Global summit', which brought me here.
My use case is very simple.
I have a Pro licence and and building personal Power BI reports so that I can showcase them on an online portfolio.
I use embedded so was surprised when my visual calc wasn't displaying.
I have since changed this but was interested if there was anything in the future pipeline to make them supported.
Kind regards, Andrew
