Here are some areas that we'd like to hear about in particular:
Thanks and we look forward to hearing your feedback!
Sorry for late answer...
My idea was to save know-how to reuse in other visuals and the scope I meaning is our company 🙂
But I think, that the shareing between other users via GITHUB / Community WEB etc. will be used 🙂
thank you very much for clarifying that, you're input is really appreciated!
Good afternoon, I need help enabling the new power bi tool, visual calculations.
The OK button to activate the visual calculation does not activate, I have already uninstalled power bi and installed it again,
I have disabled the antivirus and I was unable to do so. Help me please.
My name is Osmar Nunes,
I'm from Brazil/Manaus/Amazonas
I have the same problem, but it seems to be that the whole 'Options' dialog is not functioning.
I am sorry to hear you are having issues. Can you share a screenshot of what you're seeing and also a screenshot of the about box in Power BI Desktop?
hello Osmar,
were you able to find visual calculations in the list of preview features in the options and setting dialog? If you enable visual calculations there the OK button should be enabled. If not, can you please send a screenshot of the options and settings dialog on the preview features page as well as of the about box of your Power BI Desktop?
Really nice addition. Main annoyance right now is the lack of Line and Column combination chart so I can create a dynamic axis Pareto with both the Column and Cumulative Percentage. Doesn't officially seem to be on excluded Visuals, but it's not selectable.
you are right, I will add it to the list of limitations. thank you.
Hi!
A very nice feature!
But in the swedish version it seems to be missing.
I have ticked the box in the preview for the new function and restarted the computer and program multiple times the last days.
But it's nowhere to be found.
Is something missing in this swedish version?
oh no! I am so sorry to hear that. I am not aware of anything that might have caused this. Can you please share a screenshot of your preview features list as well as the about box from Desktop so we can investigate? You shouldn't have to restart your computer, just Power BI Desktop after enabling the feature.
Hi,
maybe it is similar to the issue I am experiencing.
I am not able to see the new feature in the ribbon, but with a right click on a visual I can create a "new calculation".
it's not on the modeling tab, as it's not a modeling feature.
I can also see that the function appears in the start ribbon but not in the modeling ribbon.
Hi!
Yes, that way seems to work for me too with a right click on a visual.
So the feature is there but not the button as it is right now.
Thank you for the information!
the button is not on the Modeling tab, as it's not in the model. It's on the Home tab in the ribbon.
Hi!
This is my version and preview listings...
/Rogwe
are you still not seeing the visual calculation button in the Home ribbon and on the right-click menu?
Yes i found it in the start ribbon.
I thought i should find it in the modeling tab.
But now i know where to find it.
Thank you!
Hi. I think that we will find a couple of usecases for this new feature!
I'm learning with it and have found a few areas that deserve improvement. First of all, there's the edit call for the visual calculation - I seem to have to click too much before I get to the actual editing. Wouldn't it be enough to double-click on the title, for example? The second thing - as soon as I fail to enter the calculation correctly, the whole visual disappears and suddenly I can't see what columns I can use in the calculation - wouldn't it be enough not to display just that one column? Also, it would be nice if the calculation in a given column could somehow be easily viewed without having to call its editor (mouse-over?).
Thx, JJ
double-click has traditionally be reserved for rename, so we can't really use that.
Regarding the error blocking the whole visual, that's on the list to improve.
And then in regards to your third suggestion, are you thinking about having a mouse-over outside of the visual calculations edit mode and then showing the DAX?
Regarding info about future improvement - nice, thx 🙂
Regarding my suggestions - I have no ambition to propose a final solution, rather I was thinking how to work with something better 🙂 But yes, the 3rd idea was about showing DAX formula for visual calculation in editor mode & "mouse over" event 🙂 Whan I thinking and trying this new feature maybe the was to editing the visual calculation could be in the "same way" as on-object interaction rather than new way - i.e. when I starting to edit visual i am able to change visual behavior / appearence & visual calculations ?
But either way - I look forward to further developments and improvements 🙂
