FAQs:
Messy, clutters the space as trying to create visuals. Also, when visuals are placed all the way to edge of canvas those buttons the "quick format" interface overlaps other functions and frustrates the poop out of me.
Being able to click portions in a visual and have the format pane navigate to it for edit is great...but not worth the cluttered look and feel.
My favorite part of this is the groupings. It makes grabbing a visual that much easier.
Hi,
I tried (again) to use, and I backed to the "old" way (again).
The interface is still not as fluid as the old one.
For example, it is hard to pick any element and move it. I tried with visualizations, and you need to put the mouse pointer in an exact position. It also happens when you try to change the fields' order in the list associated with a visualization.
Another point is for each field that you add to a visualization using the right panel, the floating panel opens on the visualization, covering a part of it.
All these things are annoying.
The product, in general, is confusing. We have tons of differences between visualizations, like number format.
Number in a TABLE:
Number in a Card (New)
Number in a REFERENCE LINE (no Bold, font, etc...)
And it is only an example.
Regards.
In my opinion, it's not a very productive way of interacting with this new feature.
Some say that it saves space, but, actually it doesn't. The right pane already takes some space, so if you're using with different menus, it will only be useless... I lose too much time with mouse clicking to activate different panes. It was much more practical at the top as it was before. It also has some bugs, for example in the Format pane, if you want to change the size font of a selected Table and search for "Size", it will not expand the categories that have Size on it...
In other words, looks nice and fancy, but not for my use
My feedback and reason to disable it for now:
Thanks.
When choosing the data to add to a visual, it would be nice if that in addition to being able to increase the width of the box that appears, I would be useful to be able to adjust the height of it when the "Arrange data for me" toogle is enabled. The box becomes very small compared to when it isn't enabled.
I'm glad to see the May 2024 update brought back the ability of remembering our Pane Manager selections.
Agreed. It seems that some of the other fixes make it generally usable. Unlike the prior months, I have deceived to keep the preview activated, for now.
Nearly there and I am generally liking it now.
I don't know if it is related to On Object Intercation but the vertical psition seems to have increased by about 10??!! (0 is actually ~ 10)
I used to put a 10 border around everything. now that top border looks more like 20 when I type in 10 - can anyone explain what is going on?
Thanks,
Ian
Hi!
where is the Analytics on-object interactives ?
Now it is in the bottom of "Format visualization section." I didn't like it.
I am here once again to ask Microsoft officially. How can you justify investing so much money into On Object, when you have UX issues that have been requested by thousands of users and that have led to hundreds of forum posts and discussions and that continue to go completely ignored by Microsoft.
Take this feature request as an example: A "Select All Results" option after typing something into the slicer search box. This is behavior, that Excel has had in it's column filter for a decade I believe. This cannot be expensive nor complicated. And yet, there isn't even a comment or official status upate on this feature on the Idea platform.

Or this one to expand/collapse Matrix columns, similar to what Excel offers. It has over 10,000 votes, going back to 2018.

Us developers, we are happy working with the UI of the current Power BI front end. We don't need On Object Interaction. At the same time, the report viewers, who are coming mostly from Excel and EXPECT equally intuitive behavior, complain to us on a daily basis why features like "select all" for slicer search results, are not possible.
So please focus on improvements for report viewers, make that as intuitive as possible, improve the visuals, spend your thousands of hours of resources on those issues, instead of on things like on-object interaction that really nobody asked for and that appears to be consuming endless of your resources while ignoring feature wishes on your idea platform.
I totally agree.
The best improvement was to add this panel on the right side. I think it is useful, BUT it is not "on-object interaction."
Until I see multiple comments from people raving about how good this has become, I don't even waste my time looking at this. It is mind boggling that this feature has gotten so much investment from MS while being unversally panned. I can think of numerous things off the top of my head that PBI developers would prefer to see improvements on, yet there is continued effort put into something that virtually no one wants or likes
Cmon MS - you can do better.
Sadly, MSFT have clearly decided to abandon the community on this topic. No one from MSFT attempts even the most superficial engagement with the feedback. One day we may find out what was behind this.... maybe. For now only tumbleweeds blow through this back-alley of the forum. 😒
Another month. Another buggy release. Another complaint that goes unanswered. The new Power BI.
More wasted development resources.
yes, yes, a thousand times YES!
I agree
I just download the latest PBI version, within 10m of use, I already found a bug. Previous releases were also bug-ridden, for example, right-click copy data from table didn't work in March release, etc.
It seems to me MS is devoting more and more development to "fancy" stuff like Co-pilot, OOI, most of which are cosmetic (so far), but spent little time on improving core / fundermental functions and utility of PBI, or really listen to the community requests. This is the opposite direction I think the product should go.
