FAQs:
We need the fixed data fields pane back. The new feature takes way more time to locate the place to drop fields.
In the old, fixed pane - muscle memory does the trick. Please make it an option
Hi iBusinessBI,
Thanks for the feedback. A solution for fixed data fields pane is coming soon. Please stay tuned for our June update
Hi Phil_P_Benesys,
We're working on a solution for this. Please stay tuned for our June update.
I've been testing in a real world scenario today and it's been an odd experience, but reverting back to the older system/UI for now since this is ultimately slowing down my workflow too much.
Please do NOT take away functionality that currently saves time and makes the software easier to use, thanks.
Hi D_M,
Thanks for this detailed feedback.
Couple follow up questions on your 2nd bullet and 3rd bullets:
Thanks again for taking the time to try out the preview!
Hi RosieL,
Thanks for your response, and good to hear regarding the June and July update notes, I think that should resolve some of the more serious issues with the new interactions.
To feedback on certain points above:
When a visual is selected the graphics to do with on object interaction appear over the query editor window, making it impossible to read the query. I appreciate that they should appear over other visuals on the page but they shouldn't obscure the query window.
Hi johnt75,
Thank you for letting us know about bugs like this. A fix for this is in the works. We are in agreement that on-object interaction shouldn't be obscuring the query window.
I have found a bug when using On Object Interaction. I am running Version: 2.116.884.0 64-bit (April 2023), On-Object Interaction Preview Selected.
I find that Data Summarization no longer works correctly when you select the column from the old data view and then use the column tools tab.
Summarising using the Build a Visual in the new On-Object Interaction does work, see below. Right clicking on the data in this visual does work
However, trying to use data summarisation on the column tools tab doesn't work. It lets you choose the type of summarisation, but does not apply it.
Just letting people know cos I have a complicated model and thought the problemwas with that. So after some time trying to fix my model, I tested on a simple table and found its the Power BI software.
Thanks
Thanks for reporting. This will be fixed in the May build.
Turned off, tried it, but found it was taking too long to get things done. Not a fan. May need to spend more time when I don't have actual work to get done.
Hi m-colbert,
There are some solutions in the works based on the feedback shared in the forum and other means. Please stay tuned for our June update
Not Really a fan. I think effort should be put on bringing in new functionalty that people request or AI on generating DAX code, rather than glossy usability features. Thanks.
Hi rockingmark,
I saw your other post for the bug you found. Thanks for that.
As the team looks like into features that help the spectrum of our customers, efforts in one area doesn't necessarily mean that efforts in others area diminished.
I'm also looking forward to seeing what is happening in the world of AI for generating DAX code since I've worked on earlier features in that area
I'd like to take back to the team areas of improvements and this was a large update. Can you let me know which parts of the feature you found to be unnecessary, or if you have a mix of likes and dislikes. This will help the team in prioritizing updates in the future
Turning off the preview because it does not work on text boxes - I need to remove the header icon to meet our deployment standards.
Also experienced formatting "On object" disappearing. More specifically, this happened on a table after I expanded the formatting pane on the side and then closed it. The only way for me to open formatting again was to click on another visual, expand the "formatting on object" to the side pane, and then click back on the table again. The formatting pane persisted on the side pane and the formatting "on object" did not return on the table.
Thanks- I appreciate this space to give feedback.
Hello - could you share more details on the disappearing you're seeing? You should be able to enter "format mode" which will give you on-object subselection regions by either right clicking or double clicking on any visual type. Perhaps a gif or screenshot of what you're experiencing will help us better understand the issue. Thanks
Very confusing. Please return it to the way it was, or include an option to use the existing pane structure.
Hi storphid,
Could you let us know which parts are confusing for you? That helps use what updates we should be working on in the future
Please stay tuned for our June update. We are incorporating feedback for the pane structure
Having the Data pane available on the right would majorly help; its move to the On-Object is challenging from an old-way versus new-way of the development experience. User toggle for showing Panes invidually versus the new "pinned (small icon)" style would be nice. Also really enjoy the updated bubble corners for re-sizing visuals.
Hi sphillips-analy,
Please stay tuned for our June update. There should be options you are looking for by then. Glad you are finding the bubble corners for re-sizing helpful
