September 2026 update | Power Query unable to update native query for Azure Databricks connector.
Good day, The latest Power Query preview was pushed to my Power BI desktop version this week. I went to use it to update a previous Power BI report. I use many connectors, but this relates to Azure Databricks currently for me. Here are the issues I found:
- Native Query Missing from existing table
- When I went to change the native query SQL using the gear icon, the native query box was missing. I could view the SQL native query statement by right-clicking on the Source step, but no way to edit it.
- New Azure Databricks connection
- When I create a new connection in Azure Databricks the native query SQL box is available initially, but when I go back to make a change or update the native query SQL, the box is now missing.
These missing functionalities to update the native query is a big miss on this update as it worked great on the legacy version and allowed quick updates of queries. I use this feature most of the time in my Power BI reports to save time and transformation steps. So not having it available makes this Power Query update useless to me and my team. I have reverted to the legacy version for now.
Please priorities figuring out why the native query box is not available for Power BI reports created in the legacy version. And why the native box disappears when a new connection is made. This worked just fine in the legacy version.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this issue.
