Hi everyone,
I have a topojson file that I was hoping to use to layer over a map and then fill with various data, for which Shape Map appears to be the best way to go. However, in my Preview features tab, it doesn't seem to be available (see below), and I can't find any way of downloading it. I am using Desktop (Jan 2021). Is there a way of using this feature? If not, are there any alternatives that might do the trick? Thanks.
Hi @HarryS ,
Has your problem been solved?
Best regards,
Lionel Chen

Hey @HarryS ,
your preview pane looks odd, the screenshot below shows all the preview features from the most current release (April 2021):
It's somewhat weird, as I never heard that one of the earlier releases does not come with the shape map visual
I recommend that you update to the most recent Power BI Desktop release, as just the most recent version of Power BI Desktop is supported: What is Power BI Desktop? - Power BI | Microsoft Docs
Nevertheless, you can consider to use a custom visual called icon-map: https://icon-map.com
Hopefully, this provides some ideas, on how to tackle your challenge.
Regards,
Tom
Hi Tom,
Thanks for getting back to me. I'm now thinking it might be something to do with the way my organisation has rolled out the programme (they are always doing weird things with permissions etc.). I will get in touch with IT + give the icon map a try.
