Shape map issues topoJSON - Local authority UK
Just to update:
I've created the JSON file that I need to add to Power BI but when i follow the steps and go to '+Add map' and select the file, it doesn't add the areas; it doesn't actually do anything to the visual.
Hi Tanya - did you ever find an answer to this issue? I'm currently experiencing the same thing with MSOA data. Looks fine on MapShaper but then goes a little haywire in Power BI.

Hi,
Unfortunately I havent found a solution yet.
I'm going to try re-make the shape file in our QGis software but I haven't had chance to do it yet!
I'm hoping that in a future update Power BI is better at using these maps as they currently work in Tableau!- C5_Evans6 years agoFrequent Visitor
Hi Tanya - thanks for getting back to me. I spent some more time googling and googling and eventually found a solution that worked for me - as you mention, it uses QGIS to change the map projection into a format that works for Power BI shape maps.
Link: https://dataveld.com/2016/09/01/overcoming-potential-power-bi-shape-map-rendering-issues/It's from 2016 so some of the QGIS references are a little out of date - but even a QGIS novice like me managed to work it out!
Good luck with yours.
