Set Default Sort for Totals for Matrix

I have a matrix that shows four columns plus a total column. I understand that I can't sort by any column except the totals, but I need to have the total column default to sorting in descending order. Is there a way to set it so that it automatically sorts in descending order by total or do I have to do it manualy and then save the file with it sorted that way?

Thanks!

  • Hi vozniak,

I'm afraid currently power bi doesn't have this option for matrix chart, you should consider to create a calculate column to achieve the total value  and then sort them.

  • It should save your last sort order. However, you can foce it to sort by anything you want if you play with it a bit.  It all depends what your data looks like. Can you share what your visual design looks like.  A snips of some screens of your Data Model showing how your table are related, the definition of your Matrix Visual the Filter and Visuals Pane along with yoru chart with the actual results obfiscated.

Sorry rereading - There is a hack that works!
      1) set word wrap off for both Column Headers and values.
      2) Then set the column width for total to zero using mouse.
