Set Column header width in matrix visual power bi nov 2025 version.

Hi Team,

I have a Matrxi visual , and wanted to fix the column width . Can we do that in Power BI Nov 2025 verison?  .
Requiremnt is : I need only 3 names to be displayed insted of 4names and if user wanted they can scroll to right for more names. if we have more than 3 records they can scroll and see,  but in the visual without scroll it should show only 3 names .

Hi @saswati07 ,

At the moment Power BI doesn’t have a built in option to fix column header width or to show only a specific number of columns in a Matrix visual by default. This is a known limitation of the product. The best available workaround is to turn off Auto-size width under Column headers in the Format pane, then manually resize the column headers and adjust the size of the visual so that only the required columns fit on the screen. Any remaining columns can still be accessed using the horizontal scrollbar. This is currently the only supported way to control how many columns are visible, and for a permanent fix, you can submit a request through Power BI Ideas for future consideration.

Thanks.

Hi @saswati07

Did you try to switch off the column header > auto-size width option ?

yes , but thats not working as we have some values also so the width is automatically resizing.

No, you can’t fix matrix column width or limit it to “show only N columns” in Power BI.

Practical workaround:

  • Manually set each column to a fixed width and Disable Columns Headers --> Options --> "Auto-size width"

  • Resize the visual so that only ~3 columns fit.

  • Extra columns will appear via horizontal scroll.
