Separating months from different years

Hello everyone!

Really hoping someone could help me with this, I am trying to show Sales data from 2 years, but Power BI sums up data from the same months but different years. I can fix that by using the years funnel, but i would really like to find a solution where I don't need to do that. I already used the SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR function to compare the two years, but without the filter, the data messes up again. I'm wondering if anyone could help me make Power BI treat the data from the same months but different years separately

Thank you in advance!

  • Hi Anonymous ,

Do you have a date dimension in place? If so, I'd create a new column which concatenates Year and Month, something like 04/2022 or April 2022. If you use that attribute, PBI will automatically distribute your data per month and year instead of grouping everything on just month.

Let me know if this works for you 🙂
