Can you make the question clear, what do you mean you it doesn't work(dose it return an error or just blank)?
Because for if(selected value= a & b & c ,[average speed], the formula should be correct. It returns a value when the lookupcolumn has a cell that is "abc".
BTW, If you wanted to put them in one IF function:
IF([SelectValue]="a"||[SelectValue]="b"||[SelectValue]="c",[Average Speed])
