Select a specific value in a Slicer when selecting a value in another slicer

Hi Everyone,

In my report i have 2 dropdown slicers - Region, Business Unit.

Expected Outcome : When selecting a value in Region, the Business Unit Slicer should default to "All" value in the dropdown.

This selection needs to be automatic without pressing any bookmark button.

Any insight is appretiated, Thanks.

To achieve the desired behavior where selecting a value in the "Region" slicer automatically sets the "Business Unit" slicer to "All" without the need to press a bookmark button, you can use the "Edit Interactions" feature in Power BI. Here's how you can set this up:

  1. Create a Slicer for Region:

First, make sure you have a slicer for the "Region" field in your Power BI report.

  2. Create a Slicer for Business Unit:

Create a slicer for the "Business Unit" field in your report. By default, it will show all the available values for "Business Unit."

  3. Access Edit Interactions:

Go to the "Format" tab in the "Visualizations" pane, and click on "Edit interactions."

  4. Set Interactions:

You'll see a set of icons next to each visual on your report page. These icons represent the interaction between visuals.

    • Click on the icon next to the "Region" slicer.
    • In the menu that appears, select the option to "Filter" the "Business Unit" slicer.

This step ensures that when you select a value in the "Region" slicer, it filters the "Business Unit" slicer accordingly.

  5. Default "Business Unit" Slicer to "All":

By default, the "Business Unit" slicer will show all values. You don't need to set any specific interaction for it because it will show all values unless filtered.

Now, when you select a value in the "Region" slicer, the "Business Unit" slicer will automatically update to show "All" values. This is because the "Business Unit" slicer is filtered based on the selection made in the "Region" slicer.

Maybe try this:

Open the filters pane with the BU slicer. Then identify which options are checked or being filtered out.

Also, it may be a cardinality issue. I can't verify that without seeing the data in relationship view.

Best,

Cam
