Hello everyone,
I hope you're all doing well.
I am an experienced Excel VBA developer with around 10 years of experience, and I now want to learn Power BI from scratch.
While I am comfortable with data handling and automation in Excel, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed by the vastness of Power BI, its different components, and the learning resources available.
I would really appreciate some guidance on how to approach learning Power BI efficiently.
Given my background in Excel and VBA, I believe I might have an advantage in certain areas, but I still want to ensure that I build a strong foundation.
Questions I Have:
My Initial Plan (Please Share Your Thoughts)
After doing some research, I am thinking of following this learning path:
✅ Step 1: Understanding Power BI basics – Interface, Data Sources, Transformations
✅ Step 2: Learning Power Query – Data cleaning, transformations, merging data
✅ Step 3: Getting comfortable with DAX – Basic measures, calculated columns
✅ Step 4: Creating Visualizations & Dashboards
✅ Step 5: Learning Best Practices & Performance Optimization
✅ Step 6: Working on small real-world projects
I’d love to hear from those who have already learned Power BI. How did you start? What worked best for you? Any insights, resources, or suggestions would be really helpful.
Thank you in advance for your time and guidance! Apologies if I have posed my question in wrong sub-forum.
Best regards,
BizBoy
