Scrollbar "Tinkling" or "Dancing" in Multiple Table Visuals with 20+ Columns — Even with Interaction

Hi Power BI Community,

@UI Bug , Embedded Report , Visual Flicker,Table Visual , Scrollbar ,Visual Interaction, Power BI Desktop, Rendering Issue

I'm encountering a frustrating UX issue with table visuals in my report.

I have four table visuals on the same report page. I’ve disabled all visual interactions between them using the Edit Interactions option. However, when I click on a field in one table, the scrollbars in the other table visuals start to "tinkle" or "dance" — they expand and contract briefly, even though there’s no data interaction or change.

This only happens when the tables have 20 or more columns. When the visuals contain less than 20 columns, this issue does not occur.

Additional details:

• I’m facing this issue in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and embedded reports on a website.

• I’ve already tried:

  • Disabling all visual interactions

  • Increasing padding between visuals

  • Locking visual positions

  • Turning off responsiveness

Still, no luck. This appears to be a rendering or layout issue triggered by visual focus and scrollbar presence with wider tables.

Is this a known bug? Any workaround to stop the scroll flickering or jumping behavior when using wide tables?

This isn’t caused by data changes, it’s a layout redraw triggered by focus shifts. Power BI’s engine re-renders parts of the canvas when a large visual gains focus, which makes nearby visuals briefly redraw their scrollbars. The best available workarounds are breaking wide tables into smaller views using bookmarks or isolating them with background shapes to reduce layout ripple effects. These aren’t perfect, but they can help minimize the flicker.

Since it affects embedded use, It’s worth raising a Microsoft Support ticket with Microsoft and including a sample .pbix if possible along with all the trouble shooting steps you took to help them investigate.
