Scheduled refresh for MariaDB without Gateway (possible?)

Hi guys,

I would desperately need your help. I have successfully connected MariaDB data source to my Power BI desktop.

Both, Power BI service and MariaDB are cloud based and therefore I was hoping no gateway is needed. However Power BI is not allowing me to schedule refresh without creation of gateway.

I found on this link that for MariaDB, creation of gateway is required.

This is the error I am getting in workspace.

As the company management won't allow to create Enterprise gateway (and Personal gateway is running only if my PC is online), is there any workaround for this to have the data feeding from MariaDB to Power BI regulary?

Hi @IvanS ,

If the data source requires Gateway, you can’t enable scheduled refresh without Gateway.

If you want to update the data on Power BI Service, you can only manually republish PBIX file.

@IvanS , if that is not there on the list not much can be done. The way we test it,  to create a dataflow. If you are able to create dataflow without a gateway, it is not required.
