Salesforce connector issue

I have a strange issue while trying to connect to Salesforce via the Salesforce connector. I am able to enter my login details in the popup window, but after that it just logs in into Salesforce and loads the Salesforce site in the popup window (see below).

I am not the only one running into this problem, but no clue where to adress this issue. Anyone else have a solution or experiencing the same?

Hi @GijsP were you able to find a solution? as a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party connector. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:

After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:

There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor.  Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.

Hi @ReportGuru

Thanks for the suggestions! Would have been nice to play around with, but IT doesn't allow third party content.

The problem solved itself. The error probably was caused by two active referral links to SF within our organisation - one was in the process of being deactivated. As soon as the old one was offline after a couple of weeks, it worked again.

Hi  @GijsP ,

Can I ask if you are using Salesforce Objcets or Salesforce Reports?

You can try the following actions:

  1. Deleting the cached credentials: File > Option and Settings (bottom left corner)> Data Source Settings > Clear Permission
  2. Global Cache - File -> Options and settings -> Data Load -> Clear Cache
  3. Clear out the browser cookies from Edge
  4. Remove saved credentials via Windows Credential Manager - Control Panel > Credential Manager > "Windows Credentials" > Look for any entries related to Power BI Desktop or the Salesforce connector under "Generic Credentials" and delete them.

If this option is checked below, the above step3 needs to be performed on the default browser.

Is your Power BI Desktop the latest version, if not, you can update to the latest version.

Download Power BI Desktop from Official Microsoft Download Center

Hi Liu,

Thank you. I am using Salesforce Reports, but I run into the same thing when trying to connect to Salesforce Objects.

I followed the steps you suggested, but sadly that didn't make a difference. I am only not able to update to the latest version due to organisational limitations, but we are still running the same version as when it was stil functioning properly.

Kind regards,

Gijs
