As far as I’m concerned, Power query is the best tool in Power BI to provide the filtering on Objects when retrieving the data. You can work with parameters in the Power query to achieve your requirement. You can follow this document:

For anyone hitting this thread with the same problem Walks06 framed cleanly "I only need 5,000 out of 2 million rows" - that's the gap none of the native paths fully close (Power Query parameters filter after the pull, which doesn't help when the pull itself is the bottleneck).
Worth knowing about an option that's different from the SaaS connectors mentioned above: Power BI Connector for Salesforce is a native AppExchange app - it installs inside your Salesforce org rather than routing data through an external cloud. You set the filter (and the field selection) in a UI on the Salesforce side, and only that filtered subset reaches Power BI. No 2,000-row cap on reports either.
