Sage 50

Good afternoon,

I am new to Business Intelligence tools, and was wondering how compatible are Power BI and Sage 50.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Ronan

Hi @RWalsh

You could connect to Sage 50 UK as an ODBC Data Source with Power BI Desktop.

Hi Ronan

If you want a paid-for pre-packaged solution (that uses ODBC BTW) - please look at http://www.redware.com/powerbi/power-bi-connector-for-sage50... from redware research limited in Brighton.

I've recently documented how I got the ODBC driver working with on sight Sage 50 and the powerBI personal gateway for schedule refreshing. Take a look at the link for the full details.

Hi OSin,

I am currently undertaking exactly this project so this link would be helpful but unfortunately it seems to be inactive. Any chance you still have this documentation on hand?

Would also be good to know if you had any advice on how to explore the Sage database before importing? In the accepted solution answer the document notes you can use a SQL statement using the ODBC connection in PBI Desktop however my understanding is that the Sage 50 database cannot be interogated using SQL. Any work around/advice for this?

Hi in your first link it notes that when using Get Data ODBC connection in PBI Desktop you can use a SQL query to import the sage data through.
Is there anyway to use SSMS or other to interogate the data before importing to Power BI? My understanding was that the Sage 50 database is not SQL based and therefore cannot be explored this way?

Would appreciate if you can point me in the right direction here.

Cheers,

Matt

Thank you for your comments.

I can't retrieve the Pervasive ODBC Engine Install.

The second link doesn't contain the videos (I think that the videos are already deleted from YouTube).
