Hello Everyone,
Good day!
I'm new to PBI and there's a task assigned to me. I need your guidance on this one. I have SQL as data source and it's on a Virtual Machine.
We have a new premium workspace and we try to migrate reports, but there's an error regarding gateway.
My Question is:
Do I need to install/setup gateway on my local device or the gateway should be installed in the VM?
Thanks in advance.

It is probably nest to install the Gateway on the SQL Server itself. Basic requirements:
1) be able to communicate (be in the same domain as) the machine that holds the data
2) Have appropriate drivers installed. So if you are connecting to, say, an Oracle server, the Gateway machine must have the Oracle drivers installed, plus the propert TNS entries, etc.
3) NOT be a Domain Controller.
But generally speaking, if all you are grabbing is SQL data, put the Gateway on that server.
