SAP BW Connector - About authorization for specific 0ORGUNIT

Hi,

we are testing PowerBI Desktop with SAP BW. The BW Connector works just fine, but I have to solve the following issue:

Certain users are only allowed to see data from a given department with its sub-departments (as modeled in 0ORGUNIT hierarchy). These users are not common BW users but so called power users that should be allowed to freely select fields from any cube that they want. Yet they should only see data from a given department and all departments below.

Note that these power users may have to create reports from a given business unit that might be higher in the organisation than the deopartment where they as employee are located.

I was thinking to create a special autorization role per business unit and attach the power users account to this role. Before starting I would like to find out if other Power BI users have similar experiences or tips on how to proceed.

Thanx in advance.

I don't know SAP BW much, according to your description, check if Row-level security (RLS) with Power BI meets your requirement.

We need a solution that works in SAP BW. The SAP Analytics Authorization seems to be similar to what RLS is providing. We are trying to get that (Analytics Authorisation) to work but as yet unsuccesful.
