Running total displayed on scatter timeline plot when their are gaps in the data

I have a table of transactions, one row is one transaction, and each has a date.

I want to show this on a timeline scatter chart.

Y axis - Store ranking (its positoin compared to other stores)

X axis - total transactions.

trouble is there are gaps in the data, for days at a time there may be no transactoins in a store, and on the chart, the bubble just disappears.

Can anyone point to a demo of doing running cumulative totals on a timeline scatter chart? I have not found anything beyond the most basic examples
