Hello,
Reaching out to you as I need help in defining RLS for my Fabric SQL end point semantic model from Power BI desktop. Can I achieve setting up RLS for my semantic model from Power BI Desktop? It makes use of Direct Lake. If Yes, Can I publish RLS settings back to my Fabric workspace from Power BI desktop? Manage Roles is grayed out when I opened Fabric semantic model in Power BI desktop and in Fabric portal, it shows below message that RLS has moved to Powet BI desktop when we go for security option in Fabric semantic model, can you please help me in achieving RLS for my Fabric semantic model. Thanks in advance.
@Sreeja_G , As of now you can use RLS on Direct Lake mode.
You can do that on a custom semantic model using the Tabular editor. But it may fall back to Direct Query.
Also Report will secure not the SQL endpoint
I have used Tabular editor for Calculation group, but do have tested RLS

Thanks @amitchandak . Will I be able to apply RLS as Userpriciplename() in Tabular Editor. Please advice!
Also dont understand this message since you cant actually use powerbi desktop to change RLS for fabric semantic models. Seems like a step back that you can only use SQL to define RLS inside fabric or am i missing something. Would be a dealbreaker for us if RLS cant be defined using DAX
