Row Level Security with Power BI Semantic Models
Hello,
I'm currently facing an issue with creating Row-Level Security (RLS) groups for a report that has live connections to Power BI through the Power BI Semantic Model*. Despite my attempts, I haven't been successful in implementing RLS.
I'm curious if anyone is aware of any limitations regarding RLS for Power BI Semantic Models when the report is live-connected. Your assistance is greatly appreciated!

*The original data are from Azure Monitor Logs. The datasets were created by creating Power BI tables from Azure.

Based on your description, you want to gain knowledge about RLS, If you are using Live Connection when connecting to the semantic model, you can try the following.
1.When the dataset is built based on Azure Monitor logs, make sure that the underlying datasource supports RLS and that user identifiers are mapped correctly.
2.To define RLS, you need to go to the Power BI service, find the dataset, and configure the security settings. The following are the steps to perform this operation:
Steps: Workspace-->Semantic model-->…-->Security
3.Before distributing the semantic model, please test it to ensure that RLS is configured correctly.

If not
1.When using a live connection to a Power BI dataset, you need to define the RLS in the dataset itself, not in the report.
2.To define the RLS, you need to go to the Power BI service, find the dataset, and configure the security settings, the same as in step 2 above.
3.After setting up the RLS, you can test the role in Desktop to ensure that the security rules work as expected before publishing to the Power BI service.
