Rework queries used in visuals (query fields moved to another query)

Hi,

I am looking for advice for how to best go about the following task (research here in the posts and generally did not result in something usable):

I need to update/consolidate the underlying data model in an existing report file.

E.g. a column table_1[field_1] needs to be moved to table_2[field_1]. The column [field_1] is currently used in quite a few visuals and filters and I would like to avoid the slow and error prone way to go through all visuals manually and edit by hand.

Is there a way to "point" from old to new? Does not look like Power BI does provide a textual representation of the model so I could just do a search/replace.

The data model is sourced from a Postgres database, if this matters. One way i can imagine of doing this would be to provide a database view that still provides the old names, but this seems dodgy and could blow up the model with lots of legacy names, would prefer to avoid going this way.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

(may be I should mention I am not a Power BI expert, I merely provide the data for the reports so I really would love not to manually update the visuals)

That is not something you can do  programmatically. Needs to be done manually.  Add the column to Table2 and then modify your calculated columns and measures accordingly.

Great! Thank you!
