I am doing some time intelligence formulae and wanted to represent the Active MTD Month Name and Active YTD Year Value on two Cards.
How is this possible?

How are you determining the "active" mtd month?
it's not selecting, I have used DatesMTD and DatesYTD, for other formulas. so I just wanted a Measure to return the Month we are in and the Year we are in...

Assuming you are using a date table with month and year in it, you can do something like this
Active Month= SelectedValue(Datetable[Month])
Active Year= SelectedValue(Datetable[Year])
