Report won't load in the service.

Hey guys,

My report source is a direct query from an oracle database.
The table loads on the desktop, but in the service, I get the error message below.
Would you know why is that?
I've read so much stuff related to this, but nothing with the same scenario.

Many thanks in advance.

Hey, @SpartaBI  thanks for trying to help me.
The problem was with the number of rows. It has over 600 million rows, which I couldn't restrict, so I changed the query mode to import mode, and I can now see the data load on the visuals.

Did it ever work for you on the service?
If not, than you probably never configured a gateway to your database.
It works on your desktop becasue your PC sits in your company's enviroment but the Power BI service is a SaaS that sits in Azure, so you need to configure data gateways to your on premise data sources in order to view reports in direct query and/or refresh reports in import

Thanks for the note @SpartaBI
The report used to work fine when it was imported.

Now it's a direct query and, yes, I do have a gateway configured as you can see below.
I'm not using the second gateway option, and it cannot be removed annoygly.
Many thanks!

When you say it worked, you mean you were able to refresh the dataset or just view and play with the report?

Yes, I had an auto-refresh for the report and it never failed.

Maybe you have some RLS defined in the dataset or in the data source?
Maybe the gateway is configured in SSO or not and user that is assign to the gateway doesn't have permission to the data (maybe it's not you). Thinking out loud here 🙂
