Report sharing, free?
Good afternoon!
I have a need with a powerBi report, I looked for information but it's not entirely clear, in fact it's quite confusing.
I have a report that I'm developing in powerBi desktop free. When I'm done I want to be able to "send" it for people to see, mostly for functionality.
For example, like this case: Send a link so that anyone who accesses it can see the report and interact with it.
https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Themes-Gallery/Superstore-Sales-2023/td-p/3664930
Let's assume the following scenario, I develop a report and I want to market it, how do I get a client to try it and if they like me to hire my services?
I obviously understand that Microsoft's logic is to generate a profit precisely with this reporting functionality, which is fully functional for a "large" company. But what about individual developers?
Obviously I don't want to share my Pbix because if it's a development that took me months I don't want someone else to market it or get it for free. I saw that there is an option to "publish to web", which as I understand it is to publish the report but open source style. Which is similar to sharing the GDP?
Then I read that you can share the report if you have a pro or premium license per user. But for this the 2 people have to have a pro or premium account.
The scenario is as follows. I have my reports, I want to market them. I need my future clients to "interact" with the report to see if its functionality works for them.
By this I mean that I don't have an "organization", rather I have external customers. The example would be I am a 1-person company that is hired by 50 different companies.
What I can think of is this, if I make a website, can I publish the interactive report on my website? Then it would be visible to all customers who wanted to hire it and then if they want the service make them a pro or premium account for the monthly service.
How should I handle myself in this case? Is it possible to share the report with functionality at no cost?
Thanks a lot!
Hello Syndicate_Admin ,
you can share the report by publish to web and you can send the link to the person that wants to view it.
he can interact with it normally without the ability to download it.
this is the best way to do it with no cost.

You're telling me that if I publish my report at WEB there's no chance anyone will get my GDP? My fear is not that someone will see the report, the fear is that my months-long work will be stolen.
Therefore, it is not an option to send the PBIX file.
But if I publish the report, I'm not interested in public information, I'm only interested in being able to interact with it.- IdrissshatilaSuper User
Syndicate_Admin , when you publish it you'll be able to interact with it.
Here is everything you need to know about publish to web from a Microsoft documentation https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-publish-to-web
