Report filter in tandem with Slicer

I hav a report filter that shows only a team of people.  I also have a regular slicer on the report for employees - however the report filter of team doesn't seem to propagate through to the slicer, when i drop down the list for the slicer on the report it brings back the full list - is there anyway to apply the slicer to the filter?

I think ive realised what the problem is and i dont think its power bi because i tried it in excel and it doesn't seem to work there either, the issue is a referenced dimension.

I am not seeing that issue. I am on the November version. Are you on that version or January?

DAX is easy, CALCULATE makes DAX hard...

i have the latest January, i have SSAS the data source, not that this should make any difference?

So what you saying is that if you have a report filter that filter is applied to whatever you have in your slicers?

Correct, seems to work in my case, I can see about upgrading to January release but the November release has been really stable for me and I have seen lots of issues with the January release, particularly the first January release. And my data was not SSAS. Are you using Direct Query or Import?
