Report filter based on Team

Hi all,

 

Is there a way to have one report which changes the filter based on what Team the report in accessed from? So if I add the PowerBi Report to a tab in Teams it will only show data based on lets say the team name?

 

We're using PowerBi reporting based on Project for the Web from the dataverse and I'm finding I'm having to create a report and custom filter per project once a team site has been created.

 

Any steers would be great even if it's not possible.

    Please be more specific.  Are you looking for a report filter based on the team, or are you looking to restrict access to the report's dataset based on team membership?

     

    The first one can be done with Report URL filters, and these can then be overridden by the users

    The second is done via Row Level Security.

      Hi

       

      I would like essentially one dataset and one report but a page filter which changes depending on what team they are in. For instance if I had

       

      Team A

      Team B

       

      I would want Team A to be able to use the report and it only displays projects which were tagged 'Team A'

      and the same for Team B.

       

      What I need though is the filter to be based on the team name that will be accessing it.

       

      I'm building a power automate flow to clone a particular Team which will have a PowerBI Tab in it with the report. Rather than having to do all that manually I'd rather Have the report pick up the team name and then adjust the filter. Can teh URL Filter be set then locked so people can't change it?

        Absolutely not, that would be horrible. URL filters are default entry points, they are not restrictions. Use RLS if you need to restrict access, or use separate reports for each team.
