Report Builder: Connections using a Power BI Gateway are not supported.

Hello!

First, I am not sure I am in the correct forum for this question - but unable to find a better forum to post.  Please advise if a Report Builder forum exists?

With the advent of ability to use traditional PowerQuery tools to develop datasets with Report Builder - I am wanting to pull several Dataverse tables together for a single report.   I have my PowerQuery table in place and working.    However, after creating a simple report layout and attempting to run I get the error message "Connections using a Power BI Gateway are not supported".

I am surprised I get this type error message as I would not expect a gateway to be required for Dataverse?   However I did notice - when I connect to a dataverse tables - during the authorization process, my existing gateway is part of the process.   I also notice - everytime I go into the powerquery menus - I have to resubmit my credentials.   Are the credentials saved when attempting to run a report?

What obvious factor am I missing?   Thank you!

Hi @Dellis81 ,

Based on the information you have provided, here are some steps and considerations to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

  1. Ensure that you are establishing a direct cloud connection to Dataverse without inadvertently configuring it to use a gateway. This direct connection should bypass the need for a Power BI gateway.
  2. Under Settings in the Power BI service, verify that your Dataverse data source credentials are stored correctly and that the authentication method meets Dataverse requirements.

I am running into the same issue when attempting to connect a report directly to a mySQL database. The power query editor allows me to connect the database, select a gateway, and the data preview loads normally, but when I click Create and then attempt to run the report using that data, I receive the "Connections using a Power BI Gateway are not supported." message. Am I missing something?
