Replicate before functionality of slicer with the drop down visuals.

Hi all, I am trying to display all costs from the start date of the project to the selected date in the slicer. I originally created a measure that sums up the cost for all months before and including the currently selected month, and the total aggregation works, but when drilling down to a deeper level there are jobs missing from the visual due to not having a cost for the specified month. Due to the nature of the calculation their costs are still showing in the aggregated total, they are just missing from the visual.

The intended behavior would ideally be that of either multi-select or the before feature for the slicer, however the user has requested a single select drop down. I'm struggling to replicate the intended functionality while maintaining the appearance of a single-select drop down.

I tried created custom calendar tables, where I could select a date with a minimum date, but that wasn't aggregating properly. I have also attempted to hide the slicer that filters the matrix, but display a slider that only filters the hidden slicer, attempting to set the max value of the original slicer with the visible slicer; for some reason that caused neither slicer to affect the visual.

Any suggestions as to how to go about this would be greatly appreciated.

@Parker-CP if possible, can you supply a sample pbix or sample data with your expected output? I kind of understand your issue but it would be more beneficial to us both if we have something to reference against.

Hi hnguy71, I'll try to spin up some sample data today. Thanks for reaching out.
