Replacement excel file

I have a report that pulls data from an excel spreadsheet stored on Sharepoint.

Every month, this spreadsheet needs replacing with a new spreadsheet containing data for that month. If I upload the new spreadsheet with the same document name as the existing so that it directly replaces the file, will this automatically update on power bi desktop or will I need to transform the data every month?

Hi sorry I think you mis understood my question.

When I replace the excel file on sharepoint with the new file containing data for that month, will it still pull through to PBI desktop? Or do I need to reconnect the data every month?

It will update when you hit "Refresh".  There are no automatic updates on Power BI Desktop.
