Rename column headers in a table

Any ways to rename column headers in the TABLE visual ? The header is default to be the column/measure name. But I need to change to a different name without needing to change the column/measure name.

Hi,

If you change to Format pane in the Visualizations Pane you will find a tab called title. Enable it to type and format your title for your visual.

This is marked "Solved" but I disagree.

The name of a data field from a DBA in many cases is not the name wanted in the display of a table column header for non-technical people.  While it's nice when the labels in a report match the data, there needs to be a better way to make a table "better" by using a more meaningful column header.

I see answers for changing a "Chart Title"... and also the Data Column Name... but the user is asking if there is a way to rename the column heading in a table vizulization.  For example, in my shipment data I do a unique count of the "Shipment ID" to determine what I would like to call "Shipment Volume" or in some cases just "Volume".   Instead PowerBI forces this column heading to be called "Count of Shipment ID" which is taking up a lot of horizontal space in my table for a column with data that is typically 1-6 in length.  Tableau has this feature which they call "Aliases".   Would be great to see this in PowerBI.

Hi,

I am also interested to see a solution for changing "Name of Column" and also how can i change the width of the Column Headers Width.

Many thanks

@Baskar you are talking about changing column names in a table (dataset). I am talking about changing a column header in a TABLE visual...

@sdjensen Thanks. In that way, I have to turn off the headers (by playing with the color). Not ideal but I can accept as a workaround.

A great hint if you want to have the same title with the same formating in all your visuals is to use the Format Painter (on the Home tab) to copy the settings from one visual to the next.
